After months of extensive restoration work, the Chapel, a Baroque masterpiece with mind-blowing interior carvings by Gringling Gibbon, has now opened its doors to travellers once more. Thank you Trinity!
Described by diarist and Fellowe Discerning Traveler, Celia Fiennes, as ‘a finne neate chapple new made fine painted… A Beautifull Magnifficent Structure,’ the Chapel is now revealed much as she, Gibbon, Ralph Bathurst, Kit Wren and contemporaries, would have experienced it (sans the Victorian windows of Northern Saints by J W Brown, of course, an extraordinary artistic statement in themselves).
So now we too can experience some of the Wow Factor as described by Celia: a pristine baroque Chapel, fine painted and full of wonderful things. Come and join us and let’s marvel together.
